History
(The Background of this Organization and its School Ministry) In 2009, the GeNext School of Leaders (GSL) was conceived with a vision to have a premier evangelical school that will educate and train the next generation to be Christ-centered leaders and future entrepreneurs in the world.
GSLF came into existence through a combination of a God-given vision and provision through the Co-Founders Pastor Glenn M. Plastina, his wife Caroline F. Plastina, Engr. Ruben D. Martinez and his wife Judy L. Martinez. The school’s name was chosen to likewise mean “Geared to Succeed and Last” (GSL). The founding partners gladly embraced and supported the vision. The mission which became embedded in their hearts, shall remain as agreed upon, and shall serve as a source of wisdom and guidance to those who will be added to serve with them through the years.
To complete the minimum required number of Incorporators required to register GSL with the SEC (Securities & Exchange Commission), spouses Ruben & Judy Martinez invited Howard S. Tovera, a brother in the Lord, as a ministry partner. He too believed and sincerely shared in the GSL Vision and Mission. Together, they prayed and conceptualized the organizational structure and quality management system of the school to ensure excellence in education and empowerment of the GeNext family.
On December 17, 2009, the building (owned at that time by Ruben & Judy Martinez) which is located at #97 Purok Bubon, Loakan became the GeNext School Building. It was willingly and prayerfully offered as “seed property” and was dedicated unto the Lord solely for the educational ministry purposes of the school under the leadership and management of Pastor Glenn M. Plastina.
The school year successfully opened in June 2010 with pre-school and elementary levels of more than twenty students. In the following year, the high school department started also with accelerating growth.
With meaningful contributions (in resources, time & expertise) of some consultants, the school leadership and management were further strengthened. Some parents likewise volunteered to assist in various areas of school operations.
The PACE (Packet of Accelerated Christian Education) system was the school program that GSL adhered to, until the time when the government mandated adherence to the K to 12 school program under the DepEd.
In 2012, the GSL became affiliated as Sister School of the NCC-Agape Schools, Inc. of California, U.S.A. (likewise a Christian not-for-profit institution) under the leadership of its Co-Founder & Executive Director, Ms. Graciela Marques-Hahn. Through this affiliation, NCC (Neighborhood Christian Center) resources such as books, teaching supplies and materials, and other blessings from parents, friends and alumni are shared with the GSL to support and provide for the school’s operational needs. Furthermore, the NCC co-sponsored a “bench-marking” trip of Pastor Plastina to NCC-AGAPE Schools Inc. and to the VCS (Valley Christian Schools) in San Jose California U.S.A. where his comprehensive and impressive presentations caused GSL to qualify as a Member of the “Quest for Excellence” Institute (a global organization headed by Dr. Clifford Daugherty, VCS President).
However, this GSL corporate organization, and its ownership and management structure ceased to exist on August 19, 2013 when a Board Resolution was unanimously approved to create instead an association of members to form and operate as the GENEXT SCHOOL OF LEADERS FOUNDATION, INC. (GSLF). It was however unanimously agreed that GSLF shall retain and maintain the essence of the Mission and Vision of GSL Affiliation with the NCC-AGAPE Schools, Inc. as Sister School remained, and relations between and among other Christian schools in the area, also continued and was furthermore strengthened when it formally became organized as the LCEA (Loakan Christian Educators Association).
